Right Path Band

Gary is a native of Milford CT, from Silver Sands beach on Long Island Sound.  Gary’s first public
performances were as part of The Skillings Brothers Family Band, starting out in the early sixties playing
Bazaars, Carnivals, Schools, Talent Shows, and later Night Clubs.  At the age of four Gary started out on
drums, from a set his father bought him for Christmas from the Sears Catalogue.  A year later he
graduated up to the guitar, learning from his Brother Toby and Teacher Bob Shay everything from Classical
and Flamenco to the sounds of Julian Breem, Segovia, and Paginni.  Gary had a great passion for
Classical, Bebop, Do-op, Elvis, The four Seasons, and the Beatles.
Gary first learned to play guitar on only two strings with a guitar his brother had given to him, playing every scale on two strings. In the
following months all six strings were in place and he was playing scales, arpeggios, and finger picking and the rest is history. One
of his greatest inspirations was his mother’s beautiful voice singing Southern Gospel.  He was also inspired by an aunt, Nan
McLaughlin from Malibu, California, a professional songwriter (Moonlight Over Malibu) who played the Hawaiian steel guitar.

Most of Gary’s life has been spent performing, touring New England and throughout the South and West. After seeing the Beverly
Hillbillies on TV, the banjo bug bit Gary.  In 1977 he started playing banjo, and a year later he discovered teacher, mentor, and long
time friend Dave Delrossi.  Don Reno later became his greatest inspiration on the five string banjo.  Gary was the New England
Banjo Champion for 2004 and won first place in the
2006 Lowell Fiddle and Banjo Contest - Jazz, Ragtime, Clawhammer, and
Classical Division.

Gary has appeared at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and several venues on Music Row. His song Oh Kids, from his Record Album
Mothers Girl, and his Bayou Boys CD received national and international airplay. His claim to fame.....A Record Album Personality
Changes, on Rainbow Records in California, a CD Mothers Girl in Nashville, his Brothers’ Album Home Before Dark in Texas, John
Roc's CD Broken Engagement in Maine and the Iron Skillet Band CD Good Cooking in New Hampshire. Bands he has played with...
The Skillings Brothers Band, Iron Skillet Band, Stoney Point, Shady Creek, The Trend, The Generics, Straight Shooter, Marcy Hill, and
The Right Path. He has played and warmed up for some of the biggest names in Rock, Country, and Bluegrass.

Gary’s passion has always been for Jesus Christ, and Gospel Music. He thanks Jesus Christ first and foremost for being his
personal savior, for Christ’s love, His mercy for the world, and for giving the Right Path Band the opportunity to continue to do God’s
work and plant His seed.

Gary has a wife, Darci, two daughters Brandy and Kaylee, one son, Gary Jr., and a granddaughter, Kiley Lyn Hall.  He especially
dedicates this bio to the memory of his Brother Toby, who was a great guitarist and musical inspiration in Gary’s life
